AI-powered optical analysis of grapes
Description
Moët & Chandon is innovating to improve quality by assessing grapes upon arrival using AI.
Each grape crate is photographed and analyzed to detect damage and assign a quality rating. Developed over six years with Hiphen, the technology uses algorithms perfected with over 6,000 annotated grape images. Implemented in 2024 across all Moët & Chandon wine presses, this innovation evaluated over 16,000 palettes of grapes in less than three weeks.
A "mobile solution" is being developed for Moët & Chandon's 2,339 partner-vignerons, advancing technology within the Champagne winegrowing community.
