Orange launches Wall of Change: collages in GTA RP to combat online sexism

Description

Orange launched For Good Connections in February 2024 as part of a global initiative to develop a safer digital world and combat the inherent risks of digital technology. Today, women are 27 times more likely to fall victim to online harassment than men. There’s also been a growing and insidious culture of sexist attitudes and behavior on the internet, especially in video games. While politicians, the press, and community activists focus their attention on harassment in public spaces, women are more likely to be attacked online than on the street. As many as 85% of women have experienced some form of online abuse. This risk is particularly heightened in the gaming community, where misogyny is a pervasive and divisive issue. Faced with this alarming reality, Orange and the Women in Games not-for-profit organization have launched a large-scale collage campaign in the streets of GTA RP to highlight the discrimination and challenges faced by female players. These collages will be the starting point for an educational livestream on Twitch hosted by the non-profit and gamers a week later.
